Job Purpose:
The Estimator’s principal duty is to plan, organize and control estimating activities.
Duties:
- Visit job sites and proposal sites as required to perform estimates and gather cost data
- Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents
- Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, plans, specifications, and related documents
- Computes costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements
- Review subcontractor scope and pricing
- Review project schedule with project manager
- Create RFI’s, Value Engineering Alternates, and Qualifications
- Presents prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information
- Compile trade and quantity takeoffs
- Receive and analyze subcontractor bids
- Prepare, coordinate, review and distribute estimates in accordance with Company policy and procedures
- Participate in job turnover meetings
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with owner and architect representatives by responding promptly to their calls, letters and emails and keeping them apprised of any matter that would materially affect the cost or schedule for their project
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with subcontractors and vendors
- Participate in industry related public relation activities
- Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
- Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
- Maintains cost data base by entering and backing up data
- Compile budget and all costs and present pricing to the project owner
- Input budget into Sage for import into Procore
- Train junior estimators as required
Skills/Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years commercial construction estimating experience. Must be computer literate in Microsoft applications. Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues and individuals inside and outside the Company. Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of Sage 300 Estimating & Construction.
