This tenant improvement shows the successful transformation of a rugged Chinese Bistro into a lifelike tropical oasis. The space is now filled with bamboo wall panels set on woven covered half walls that incorporate authentic Caribbean flair with traditional artwork decorations. On top of the wall panels is a dried grass double canopy roof, much like the thatched roofing used in bungalow huts.
These canopies add character and define the dining area, helping set a warm ambience. The scope of this transformation focused on the dining areas, restrooms and the resurfacing of the existing bar area casework with real bamboo veneer finishes. The concrete floor throughout the dining and bar area was sanded with diamond pads to remove all old sealers and coatings. Once all finishes were removed, the floor was stained to evoke the feeling of ocean water beneath your feet.
